Description:

Effective cancer control requires a strategy that facilitates the coordination of the many tasks in the different areas of cancer control. The WHO endorses National Cancer Control Programs (NCCPs) as the best available method to control both the causes and the consequences of cancer in a strategic and comprehensive way. A designated institution with a clear leadership and responsibility for cancer control, reliable and up-to-date data from cancer registries are essential to monitor the cancer burden and the effectiveness of different measures to control the disease. Many stakeholders are involved in the process however, the cancer patients’ voice in the Middle East and bordering regions is still not sufficiently heard and the existing plans do not always reflect the patients’ needs. Patient and public involvement in strategic considerations, service development and evaluation must become integral part of National Cancer Control Plans. Join us for a discussion with the patient experts and their view and contributions to National Cancer Control Planning.
